Netflix To Get a Dedicated Button on Your Remote

Every time I look at Netflix, I can’t help but be impressed. They revolutionized the process of getting video with their mail service, stayed at the head of the curve in movie streaming and are constantly working to add content to their offerings. It just seems like they’re always at the front of the pack, if not one step ahead.

So it comes as no surprise that Netflix may be the first third-party content provider to get a spot on your remote control. The company will partner with hardware manufacturers like Panasonic, Samsung and Sony toward adding a dedicated Netflix button to devices like Blu-ray players and televisions, it announced today. Netflix already has apps built into a number of devices, so the move would just make accessing Netflix one step easier. Not surprisingly, the button will also find its way onto remotes for set-top boxes like Roku and Boxee, on which Netflix is a prominent content provider.

The Netflix button is expected to be prominently featured and bright red. It’ll start showing up this spring. [via Digital Trends]
