NASA All Set to Bomb the Moon, Man is Pissed

If you’ve got a telescope and clear skies, you may want to take a look at around 4:30 a.m. Pacific, time, when NASA is scheduled to “bomb” the moon in search of water. At that time, the LCROSS (Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite) will launch a spent rocket into the moon’s South Pole, creating an explosion that will hopefully reveal how much ice is hidden in the shadows. Once the LCROSS itself settles on the moon, the measurements begin.
All of this stems from several studies in the journal Science last month, which concluded that the moon at least has hydrogen and oxygen, the building blocks of water. If water is found, NASA hopes moon colonizers could some day use it, perhaps turning the moon into a rest stop on the way to deeper space adventures.
To see the LCROSS bombing, you’ve got to be in North, Central or South America, and you’ll need at least a 10-inch telescope. You won’t be able to see the impact itself — that’s happening on the moon’s dark side — but you should be able to see a plume of dust and debris catching the sunlight as it settles from the impact. As an alternative, you can turn to NASA’s Web site for footage. [via National Geographic]

Did these geniouses ever stop to think how this lunar bombing is goin to affect the Earth. Not to mention what gives NASA the right to put the entire Earth at risk to find out whether the moon has water or ice on it. Who cares if there is water or ice on the moon. Lets worry about what we are all doing here on Earth. Let's worry about cleaning up the Earth perhaps.

I think the idiot that come up with this idea is a freaking moron. Why mess with fate. I hope this little brain fart don't effect the rest of us meaning man kind. This is the reason why everything is so screwed up with the world we live in.

What in the WORLD are these people thinking???? Scary? Yes. Why would anyone wanna mess with nature? I agree with everyone else here. I just hope these "scientist" dont end man kind because they wanna know too much. Just let gods creations be exactly as they are.

Science moves forward and provides us with new ideas which you don't get from sitting on your hands. Do you guys realize how minor an event this is? You're really afraid this will negatively affect you on Earth?

I had a dream last night that i had airforce ones on and i was jumping from balcony to balcony dodging moon fragments falling from the sky.I woke up on the floor and got up and looked outside to make sure the moon was still there and when i opened my door at first i just barely poked my head out cause i was still a lil shooken up fro my dream.

They are not bombing the moon it is a test to see the debree from the impact. Nasa want to see if there is ice underneith the lunar serfice to posibly build a space station on the moon. The crater that is made will be no biger the craters already on the moon….
