Motorola to Launch Android Tablet?
By Chris Weiss
At the same press conference where Motorola co-CEO Sanjay Jha indicated there will be two Droid phones coming this summer, he alluded to a possible Motorola tablet sometime this year. The tablet would be in the 7- to 10-inch range with Android at its core. Interestingly, the main function discussed today was television streaming; the tablet would provide a portable, in-home TV solution that users could use to watch streamed content around the house.
There’s no indication of when we could see Motorola’s tablet, outside of the very generic “in a very short period of time.” We expect that means within a few months, but it’s pretty hard to judge for sure.
The focus on TV streaming seems a little limited. Presumably, Motorola’s device would feature other standard tablet functions like Web browsing, so it seems a little strange for today’s focus to be entirely on TV streaming. We’ll see what else this Motorola device can do when they get more details in a “very short time.” [via InformationWeek]
