Motorola Droid Explodes, Sends Dude to Hospital

You know when you’re standing in line at the coffee shop/deli/convenient store/etc. and there’s some obnoxious, self-consumed jack ass in front of you yapping away on his cell phone and basically holding everyone else up with his conversation? It’s pretty natural to wish that his phone would just self destruct in his hands and cause him to run out of the store crying like a bitch. At least that’s what I fantasize about.

Of course, I never expected it to happen. Not sure if Aron Embry was holding up a line of customers when he was chit-chatting on his new Droid 2, but according to news reports, the phone did blow up on him. Right in his ear. As he was talking away, he noticed a warm, wet, sticky liquid pouring down his hand–his blood! That after the phone made a popping sound in his ear.

After tending to his bloody ear, he noticed that the screen was shattered. What a bad day.

Embry got stitches in his ear but didn’t suffer any hearing loss. Wonder what Motorola will have to say about this one? [ABC News via Dvice]
