More Apple iPad Specs
Jan 27, 2010 - By Chris WeissSteve Jobs got into the meat of the hardware after demonstrating some of the functions of the iPad. We learned that the iPad features a 9.7-inch screen with full capacitive multitouch thanks to the “best multitouch sensors in the world”. It is has a 1 GHz Apple A4 running the show and will come in 16, 32 and 64 GB flavors. Battery life is rated at 10 hours and the device provides “over a month of standby”.
Physically, the iPad is just half an inch thick. It weighs a pound and a half.
On the software end, the iPad can run unmodified iPhone apps. Users can download all the apps that they have on their iPhones onto the iPad. App builders will also be able to build iPad-specific apps that take advantage of the new display. They’re demonstrating apps as we write and have showed off some games and Facebook. They’re releasing the SDK for app development today. [via Engadget]

When the iPad was introduced on January 27th, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a webcam for iChat/Skype calls. Then I remembered a post back in early January on appleinsider.com. They mentioned Apple submitted a patent back in 2007 with details of a camera that is mounted 'behind' the display.
