Microsoft Working On Its Own Multitouch Mouse
By Chris Weiss
As has been the trend of the past decade or so, Microsoft is pulling up behind Apple with a product all its own. In this case, it’s rumored that Microsoft will be launching a multitouch mouse to succeed its Arc Mouse.
Microsoft’s Arc Touch Mouse will launch in September, according to Neowin. This new piece of hardware is said to be the same piece of gear that Microsoft teased earlier this week in two pictures.
The new mouse is designed to work with Windows 7, offering a way of leveraging the OS’s multitouch features without having to purchase a multitouch monitor. Retail price is rumored at $70, putting it right in line with Apple’s $69 Magic Mouse.
While the new rumor indicates a mouse, previous speculation pointed to a multitouch trackpad. In the teaser pictures, the device appears flat, and Microsoft even teased in a tweet: “Don’t be so touchy…flat is where it’s at.” Indeed, the pictured accessory looks a little flat for a product called “Arc.” [via Neowin]
