Microsoft to Beat Apple to the Tablet Market
Jan 06, 2010 - By Chris WeissAccording to a report in the New York Times, Microsoft CEO Steve Balmer will present a slate/tablet device during a keynote speech this evening at CES. Little is yet known about Microsoft’s take on the tablet, but it is an HP-built machine. The device will reportedly be a multimedia device with an e-reader and multi-touch capability. It may be available in the middle of this year.
Could this be the Courier we saw a few months back? It’ll be interesting to see how Microsoft is able to play its entry into the tablet market with Apple’s big unveil coming in a few weeks. Will Microsoft’s device be able to make a splash given all the hype surrounding Apple’s? Will it compete in the long run? Or will it just be another of the many tablets coming out of CES 2010? We’ll have to wait a few more hours to find out exactly what MS has up its sleeve. [via NY Times Bits]

Semi-interesting, but as Tantillo pointed out on his last blog post, the reason there is so much buzz surrounding Apple's new iSlate is because of Apple's great track record.
Microsoft cannot generate that kind of excitement..also due to their track record…
