Microsoft Streaming Music Service: Your Take?
Jul 14, 2009 - By Jared Newman
Unashamedly taking a page from Spotify, Microsoft announced this week that a streaming music service with download-to-own features is in the works. It will be ad-supported, but for £9.99 (this is a UK thing for now), the advertisements can be washed away. Microsoft is also looking for a partner to host digital downloads alongside the service. The service will be promoted over MSN, but the most tasty part of this news is possible integration with the Xbox 360. Peter Bale, MSN’s executive producer, hinted that the service could be integrated somehow with Microsoft’s gaming console, but didn’t elaborate further. This is hypothetical, but give me unlimited streaming music to replace Fight Night Round 4’s terrible soundtrack, and I’m a happy man. We’re curious though– will this compete with iTunes? Will it be another Zune-style failure? Weigh in with the poll below… [via Telegraph]
