Microsoft May Launch “Pink” Phone In Coming Months

Microsoft. Remember them? We’ve been so enamored with the endless Apple rumormongoring that we nearly forgot about our old pals at MS. And we certainly forgot about the Pink phone that was the subject of rumors months back.
Well, Pink is back and according to one report we may be seeing it in the next two months. As Windows Mobile 7 gets ready for launch, word is that Microsoft plans to introduce its own phone based on the OS. The rumor can be attributed to Jeffries & Company analyst Katherine Egbert who expects that Microsoft will announce the phone at Mobile World Congress next month or at CTIA in March.
According to Egbert, it will be a Zune-like phone created in a partnership similar to the Google/HTC team-up that bore the Nexus One. It’s expected to feature 720p video support and a 5MP camera. Other than that, the phone is a mystery.
Not quite as glamorous as the Apple tablet, but it’s another phantom device possibly coming to the surface here in early 2010. [via All Things Digital]
