Microsoft Changes Laptop Hunters Ad on Apple Pressure

Microsoft may have won the PR battle by knocking Apple’s protests against the infamous Laptop Hunters ad campaign, but Apple got its way in the end. Recall that these ads task shoppers with finding a sub-$1000 laptop, letting them keep it if they can. All the ads included an obligatory but fruitless look at more expensive Macs. Now, some of the wording in Microsoft’s ads have changed, addressing Apple’s complaints that the prices quoted are false now that Macs are cheaper. One ad once said “This Mac is $2,000, and that’s before adding anything … Why would you pay twice the price?” It now simply says “It seems like you’re paying a lot more for the brand.” Tamer? Yes. Totally compromised? No. Amusing to see Microsoft and Apple bicker? Absolutely. [via CrunchGear]
