Microsoft Announces Phone 7 Partners
By Chris Weiss
Microsoft’s been getting active in the Windows Phone 7 department, preparing for a launch later this year. Today the big M announced its lineup of Phone 7 partners, a robust set of mobile players. Five specific manufacturers were announced as Phone 7 partners: Asus, Dell, HTC, LG and Samsung. Those names include some heavy-hitters that we expect to make a strong case for Microsoft’s new operating system.
We don’t know exactly what the initial Phone 7 lineup will look like–those balls are now in the manufacturers’ courts–but we do know that the first phones will be arriving by the holiday shopping season.
One interesting phone that will likely be on a few techies’ holiday short list is the Dell Lightning (pictured). The Lightning, which leaked back in April, offers a 4.1-inch OLED, slide-out Qwerty, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and 1 GB of flash storage. [via Engadget]
