Microsoft has done a little name-dropping over at Mix 10 and provided a list of development partners who will be offering apps when the initial surge of Windows Phone 7 handsets hit later this year. The lofty list includes notables such as the Associated Press, EA Mobile, Fandango, Foursquare, IMDB, Match.com, Netflix, Pandora, Photobucket and Sling. So Phone 7 adopters will get everything from news to games to movies to dating right out of the gate.

Users will get better access to those apps thanks to an updated marketplace called Windows Phone Marketplace that leverages a “panaromic” layout and more active marketing designed to help users discover apps that they would have missed before. The new store will support ‘try before you buy’, ad-supported aps and provider billing.

Phone 7 will use background push notification for non-multitasking apps and will include a location service available for any app to use.

Microsoft launched a suite of new tools for developers this morning. Budding MS developers can find the stash here. [via  Electronista and Gizmodo]
