iTunes 9 has been officially revealed to the public today by Steve Jobs himself. Going into the new version of iTunes, the store has become the #1 music store in the world with 100,000,000 accounts and 8.5 billion songs sold. iTunes 9 will build on this success with an updated Genius DJ algorithm, improved device synching, and even app management directly within iTunes. Update – iTunes 9 will also include iTunes LP, a feature-rich addition to the album experience lost in today’s digital media market. This will include, music, photography, liner notes, essays, lyrics, artwork and more.

Update - iTunes 9 allows “home sharing”, a way to share music with your family, roommates or friends within your home network. If your family members or friends are online in your network, their music and apps will appear on the left column menu for you to freely use. Might this be the social functionality in iTunes that was hinted at in recent weeks?
