Nook It Took Months, but Barnes and Nobles Nook Is Finally Available

The Monday following Super Bowl isn’t really the day to be digging deep into the memory bank, but if you concentrate through the haze, you’ll remember that Barnes and Noble introduced its Nook all the way back in October. It was a hot release of the Christmas season– so hot in fact, that B&N experienced big supply/demand issues and spent the holiday season making announcements and updates about when people who were lucky enough to pre-order would actually receive that slim, brown box on their doorsteps.

Honestly, we pretty much forgot all about the Nook since the holidays, but today it’s back and it’s available to the rest of us. B&N announced earlier today that the Nook is available online and will hit physical stores later this week.

It’s kind of awkward timing with the world still afluster about the iPad, which will be coming next month. However, the Nook always looked like a solid Kindle competitor and is definitely a worthy consideration for anyone looking for a dedicated e-reader.

You can find the Nook at www.barnesandnoble.com/nook. It retails for $259. [via PC World]
