Charlie Sheen Winning Recipes 2 Is Charlie Sheen Traffic Gold?

We’ll spare you any jokes about “winning”, but Ad.ly, which recently paid Charlie Sheen $1 million to promote their clients in his tweets, has definitely demonstrated the power of the Internet.

Sheen tweeted that he was looking for an intern who was able to quote all his memes at once, and now that the numbers have officially come back, Internships.com (who denies that Sheen’s their spokesman, despite paying him to be just that) got their $100,000 worth of promotional value.

Sheen tweeted about the role twice. In return, Internships.com got over one million unique visitors to their site, and over 82,000 applications for the role of Sheen’s Twitter shepherd. In other words, for every buck they spent, they got ten visits to their site. Not bad.

Can Sheen keep this up? Well, it depends on how quickly Sheenmania burns out. It seems to have died down now that he’s been fired and “Two and a Half Men” will continue to pollute the airwaves without him. But he still has a lot of publicity, and he’s still a lightning rod, thanks to his personal life and his unapologetic honesty about it. We’re guessing Charlie isn’t done endorsing products just yet, although perhaps not to the same success.
