vc gv vm iPhone Says No to Google Voice App

Google isn’t getting much love from Apple these days, with Cupertino first blocking the native Google Latitude app, and now rejecting Google Voice from the App Store. Voice, still in private beta, is a tool for routing calls to and from other numbers, transcribing voice mails, sending SMS messages and placing cheap international calls. Android and Blackberry phones already have a dedicated app. Apple’s official line is that the official application, and unofficial ones, “duplicate features that come with the iPhone,” but some people are pointing the finger at AT&T, especially because GV Mobile developer Sean Kovacs claims he got a personal stamp of approval from Apple’s senior marketing VP Phil Schiller. I guess Google Voice will have to be a Web app now, but one thing’s certain: This stinks. [via TechCrunch]
