Apple iPad 23 IPad Sales Reach 150,000, Slow Down Considerably After Day 1

Surprise, surprise. After the initial surge of impatient Apple fanboys pushed day one sales of the iPad to a fevered rate of 20,000 per hour, sales dropped off considerably over the weekend. According to Fortune, blogger/analyst Daniel Tello has been watching order numbers submitted by volunteers and has estimated that Saturday and Sunday sales slowed to around 1,000 iPads/hour.

After a little math, Tello estimated that iPad sales were around 152,000 by midnight yesterday morning. Tello projects an estimate for actual demand (minus first-day fever) is around 30,000 on a weekday and half that on weekends. He expects about half a million orders before the iPads begin shipping in two and a half weeks. According to his numbers, Apple will hit the one million mark sometime around mid-April, but Tello admits this is a very rough estimate based on limited data. [via CNN Money]

I don't know anyone or anyone who knows anyone who owns one…that says a lot because almost all of those people have either and iPod or some other apple device.
