IPad Prices May Drop If Sales Flounder
By Chris Weiss
While the iPad’s pricing came in much lower than initially expected, a new report indicates that it may duck further still. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, Apple executives expressed that Apple will remain “nimble” with the iPad’s price tag, possibly lowering it to attract more sales. When it was announced on January 27, the iPad’s price range was given at $499 (Wi Fi-only, 16 GB) to $829 (3G, 64GB).
A recent survey found that Apple may indeed be implementing the lower pricing plan sometime in the near future. The survey, which randomly selected 1,000 Retrevo customers, found that 70 percent of the respondents weren’t interested in buying the iPad. Only 9 percent of respondents said they were likely to buy one, while the remaining 21 percent needed some more information before making a decision.
So, even if you want it, consider boycotting the iPad for a while and pushing Apple toward a lower price. [via WSJ and AppleInsider]
