IPad May Include a Camera After All
Nearly a week after its official debut, and rampant iPad speculation continues to boil. One of the blatant missing features of the iPad is a camera. Before Mr. Jobs took the stage last week, we certainly would have expected the device to include a built-in webcam, but there was no mention of such a feature during the extensive presentation last Wednesday. So it’s time for the rumors to begin afresh.
A Kansas Apple repair company named Mission: Repair has come out and said that its first shipment of iPad parts includes internal frames with a little camera hole carved out. The company went on to say that a MacBook camera slides in for a perfect fit, but doesn’t expect the camera to show up until iPad 2.0.
Meanwhile, Reuters has taken a closer look at some screenshots from the Apple event, as well as leaked photos released prior to the official unveil, and believes it has enough evidence to support the presence of a webcam.
It remains to be seen if the camera surfaces on actual consumer iPads when they come out next month. [via InformationWeek and Reuters]
