Apple iPad 2 IPad May Experience Limited Availability Upon Launch

Reports about how many people will and won’t be interested in buying an iPad have been mixed since the iPad’s debut. If recent reports hold true, the decision to buy an iPad may not be in the hands of consumers at all.

According to a note by Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek, Apple is currently experiencing manufacturing delays with its iPad partners. If the issues keep up, production will be limited, making for a smaller supply of iPads upon its launch later this month. The problems could also limit next month’s production.

Part of the note reads: “An unspecified production problem at the iPad’s manufacturer, Hon Hai Precision, will likely limit the launch region to the US and the number of units available to roughly 300K in the month of March, far lower than the company’s initial estimate of 1,000K units.”

Like the Barnes and Noble Nook, customers looking to be among the first to tote a new iPad around may have to scramble to get their hands on one. [via All Things Digital]
