iOS 4 Update to Fix Reception Issues?
By Chris Weiss
According to a report on AppleInsider, Apple is working on an update to iOS that could fix the infamous reception issues of the latest iPhone. I’m not sure how a software update can repair a poorly placed antenna, but there has been debate that reception issues are a software problem not a hardware issue. IPhone 4 owners could see the iOSĀ 4.0.1 update as early as today. Looks like Apple thought better of the ‘you’re holding the damn phone wrong!’ solution.
In case your unaware, new iPhone users began reporting shaky reception issues when the iPhone first became available last week. When holding the phone in the left hand, users bridged the external antenna and watched reception bars drop. Steve Jobs actually responded to an email inquiry that every phone experiences similar issues and that the user in question would just have to find another way of holding it or buy a protective case. Needless to say, new iPhone 4 owners were less than enthused about that solution. Hopefully the iOS update performs a little better than Steve Jobs. [via CNET]
