Intel and Nokia Partnering On ... Something.

Ah, the slow drip of a tech news cycle. Intel and Nokia are making a big splash today by announcing a “long-term strategic partnership” to create an open, Linux-based mobile computing platform. The only thing is, the two companies aren’t saying exactly what it is, leaving open the possibility of a smartphone, a netbook, a combination of both or something else entirely. We do know that Intel will bring its Wi-Fi and WiMax know-how and Nokia will provide the HSPA/3G modem license. The rest of the announcement is wind-blowing, which will lead to the inevitable rumors and speculation, followed by the next big announcement, which may or may not be of any consequence. Aw heck, who are we kidding? We love this stuff. [via CrunchGear]
