Infinite USB Creates a Chain of USB Devices
By Chris Weiss
One of the many things that annoy me on a regular basis is when a bulky USB device or other plug blocks me from using another USB port on my computer. Why put so many damn ports on the computer if you can’t use them simultaneously?! Worse yet, the guilty device doesn’t block the whole port, or even half of it, but just enough to prevent me from squeezing in my flash dock/charging dock/wireless accessory/iPod or whatever else it is I’m in need of. Even though I have a number of USB ports, it never seems like enough.
Designer Gonglue Jiang offers this simple solution: Infinite USB. Each USB features a plug on one end and a port on the other, so you never actually take up a full port and can connect one after the other in a chain of awesomeness. I’m no electrical engineer, but “infinite” is certainly a giant exxageration; however, even just one extra port would help to ease the clutter. Each one is color-coded, so it’s easy to tell exactly what it’s connected to.
If stackable Tupperware can do it, why not friggin’ USBs? [via Yanko Design]
