HP Welcomes the Windows 7 Era With Compaq L2105tm Multitouch Display
Oct 22, 2009 - By Chris Weiss
It’s Windows 7 day and that means one thing to many manufacturers and consumers–multitouch! After yesterday’s Dell multitouch display dropped, HP was quick to jump in the ring with a multitouch monitor of its own. The HP Compaq L2105tm is a 21.5-inch, 1080p display that is HP’s first Windows 7-certified monitor. Rip open the cardboard, toss the foam packaging and plug into your Windows 7 system to enjoy one finger scrolling and two finger mouse function.
The multitouch interface is an optical platform that is powered by two cameras, an infrared light and sensor paired with a reflective film. Supposedly, the interface is designed to be fast, accurate, durable, bright and sensitive to a variety of touches (i.e. gloved finger). For stylus enthusiasts, the display includes a stealth little stylus that fits neatly into the side of the monitor. The HP Compaq L2105tm will go on sale today and retail for $299–considerably less than the price we saw for Dell’s 21.5-inch HD multitouch. After today, however, we expect to see a market full of Windows 7-certified multitouch displays. [Display Blog via Engadget]
