HP may be onto something with its unfortunately-named Photosmart Premium with Touchsmart Web (say it five times fast) printer. Through a set of icons that look eerily like a certain smartphone, the printer can connect to the Web and print coupons, maps, games, news, weather and movie tickets, all without a PC. Google, Coupons.com, Fandango, USA Today and Web Sudoku are among HP’s early partners, and other “apps” will be available for download later this year. The screen is a 4.3-inch LCD display that can also control the usual print, fax, copy and scan functions. As expected, it can network wirelessly with other PCs, but also works with the iPhone, iPod Touch and Bluetooth-enabled devices. Look for the HPPPWTW (not any easier) in the fall for $400. I just got this printer last week. I use it on my home network so it connects to a Windows 7 laptop (wired) and a Mac Pro (wireless). The printer works very well not only with both of these laptops but also with my iPhone from which I can print pictures and documents through the free app from HP.This printer is easier to install as a wireless printer rather than a wired printer through your router. I use it as a USB connection with the Windows 7 laptop and as a wireless with the MAC.
