Google Wave Invites are Go

As promised, Google Wave invites are going out today, allowing roughly 100,000 people to try out the somewhat experimental collaboration software. Google Wave combines e-mail, messaging, blogging and multimedia into one massive communication tool. It’s creators have dubbed it a re-invention of e-mail, but it’s not really clear yet how the Web platform will be used, and by whom. For now, Google’s just letting people try it, with the caveat that “Google Wave isn’t quite ready for prime time. Not yet, anyway.” Google says it will invite more people if all goes well, and you can still request an invitation through the official Web site, though it’s not clear how long that’ll take.
