LogitechGoogleTV Google TV Set Top Launching Before Month End

I was pretty impressed with Google TV when it was introduced back in the spring. I don’t know how many times I’ve been watching TV and a show I was watching forced me to run upstairs and Google a trivial fact of some sort, so it would be nice to a have a built-in browser in my television. And the idea of being able to search shows and Internet content just sounds delightful. I’m so hopeful about Google TV, in fact, that I’ve been putting off shopping for a new set until I see the final product (and price).

Well, it looks like I won’t have to wait much longer. According to Engadget, Google TV is officially launching on September 29. Unfortunately for those that would rather receiving a boiling coffee enema than succumb to another set-top box, the Logitech Revue box will be the launch vehicle for the platform. The peripheral will retail for $299 or a deeply-discounted $179 for Dish Network subscribers.

A separate report from Engadget this week indicated a launch date of October 17, so there’s some conflicting information out there.

Whatever the exact launch date of the Revue, hopefully Google TV sets aren’t far behind.  [via Engadget]
