Remember when Google actually innovated exciting, market-leading products? I miss those days because it seems like lately all Google does is release second-rate versions of products that already exist. Things like Google Buzz. Or the Nexus One (good product, terrible infrastructure around it).

Well we may have one more to add to that list. Google has confirmed that it will offer a new email deals service similar to Groupon. The service will be called ‘Google Offers’.

Google described the service: “Google is communicating with small businesses to enlist their support and  participation in a test of a pre-paid offers/vouchers program. This  initiative is part of an ongoing effort at Google to make new products, such as the recent Offer Ads beta, that connect businesses with  customers in new ways.”

So a valuable Google service or another copycat product bound for quick, decisive failure? [via Search Engine Land]

Google is OK in my book! I have been feeling pretty good about the innovative Google TV! I was able to get a Logitech Revue through my work and I've been really very excited while utilizing all the cool features it has. I am lucky to work for Dish Network due to the availability of resources about a product therefore making it easier to decide whether or not to invest. This product is so helpful to me in my life full of single serving peanuts and frequent flier miles. Do to my travel schedule, unfortunately I do not get as much time at home as I would like so I need a tool that minimizes the amount of tasks at hand. What I like best is the integration technology which allows me to research my destination for fun after hours activities and watch my TV programming on the same big screen. The other key point is the wireless keyboard that hangs out with me on my cozy couch and allows me to access all my electronics at the same time. So, I realize that without a device like the Revue, Google TV would be inaccessible but I'm so happy that Google is staying so innovative!
