Nexus One Google Struggles With Nexus One Support

As customers line up for the Nexus One, Google is finding that selling mobile phones directly isn’t as easy as it may have thought. Customers have been experiencing problems and have found communication with Google to be less than satisfactory–especially after coughing up $530 for a phone.

Google has set up an online customer support system, including support forums and a contact form, but often takes days to respond to problems/questions via email. Customers are clamoring for a faster means of communication like the phone support that is standard fare for most consumer goods. Instead, they wait.

Google explained the situation to BBC: “We’ve worked closely with our Nexus One launch partners to make support available through a variety of channels. This is a new way to purchase and support a mobile phone, and we’re committed to sorting out the few kinks that do exist.”

Hopefully, Google will get its act together soon and save the tarnishing image of direct-to-consumer phone sales.

In related news, T-Mobile has acknowledged Nexus One problems with 3G network and says that it is investigating. [via Ars Technica ]
