Google Launches Google Apps Marketplace

Further expanding its role in the cloud space, Google opened the Google Apps Marketplace yesterday. The new marketplace is designed to open up a new world of integrated business applications to businesses that use Google Apps.
In a blog post, Google explains the problem that it attempts to solve: ”In recent years, many talented software providers have embraced the cloud and delivered a diverse set of features capable of powering almost any business. But too often, customers who adopt applications from multiple vendors end up with a fractured experience, where each particular application exists in its own silo. Users are often forced to create and remember multiple passwords, cut and paste data between applications, and jump between multiple interfaces just to complete a simple task.”
The Apps Marketplace addresses these issues by offering a diverse market of Web applications that integrate with Google Apps. Once they’re installed, the applications work like native Google apps, can be accessed from Google’s navigation bar and can be opened without individual logins.
To start, more than 50 companies have signed on to sell apps. Applications being offered help businesses with such tasks as payroll, workflow and project management.
