Google Gets a Jolt of Caffeine

For the past several months, Google has been working on a secret project that’s no longer so secret. As described by Google, the caffeine index project relates to “a next-generation architecture for Google’s web search”, and is ” the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions.” Rather than simply developing changes and incorporating them directly, Google is inviting webmasters and power searchers to try out the changes and provide them with feedback. The changes relate to crawling, indexing and ranking. Developers can test the site out at http://www2.sandbox.google.com/. [Google via Search Engine Land]
