Google Corporate Page Appears in Chinese
By Chris Weiss
Well, isn’t that ironic. And yeah. I really do think. This morning, the U.K.’s Guardian reported that a search for “Google executives” presented an English-based link for “Corporate Information–Google Management”. Normal enough, right? Well, when clicking the link, searchers were taken to a page that was in Chinese. The main corporate site–google.com/corporate–was also in Chinese and even linked to the non-censored Chinese Google site.
Other users reported that text was showing up in Danish and other language, while some saw the proper English version.
Ordinarily, we wouldn’t be that interested in Chinese Google, but given the events of the past few days it’s actually quite fascinating. Though initial reports questioned whether the glitch was the work of hackers, Google has said that it was due to a simple bug.
It appears to be all fixed now, at least for me, so if you want to research Google’s corporate structure–in English, feel free. [via CNET]
