chromeOScode Google Chrome OS May Have Single Sign On, No Other Browsers

File this one under “Duh.” Download Squad reports on an obscure line of code within Google Chrome that points to a “Chrome OS login manager,” with a “single-sign-on cookies” that would log you into all Google services at once. The implication here is that Chrome OS will be so tightly wound with the Chrome Web browser that there won’t be any room to run browsers from the competition. Thing is, we kind of deduced that already. Chrome OS, which Google will give away for free, is nothing if not a way to get more people using Google’s services, thus generating more ad revenue. Google has also said that Chrome OS will essentially be a modified version of Chrome, so it’s not surprising to see OS code showing up in the browser. I’m just hoping the end product doesn’t look anything like the dubious screenshots we’ve seen so far. [Download Squad via Electronista]
