Google Buys reMail, Pulls Search App Off iPhone
By Chris Weiss
Yesterday, Google continued onward in its acquisition quest, purchasing email search developer reMail. The company is known for its email search app designed for the iPhone, which has received much praise. Unfortunately for those looking for the app now that reMail has gained a little more fame, it’s no longer with us. Google and reMail quickly pulled the app from the App Store following the acquisition. No further updates will be made to the app, but support will live on through March. ReMail will also make premium features available to users for free.
ReMail’s founder Gabor Cselle will join the Google team as a product manager for Gmail. Cselle formerly worked on Gmail.
It’s not clear if reMail will be resurrected in Gmail or Android, but it would be a shame to simply c**k block Apple by pulling the quality app from the iPhone. Hopefully, Google will integrate into its own services. [via Computerworld]
