Proving once again that eBay is the premier marketplace for selling old junk that nobody seems to want, General Motors will begin peddling brand new Pontiacs, Chevies, GMCs and Buicks on your favorite online auction site. The new sales technique will begin in California with tentative plans to extend to other states around the country. While eBay shoppers may miss small details like test drives and slicked-back car salesman that are bent on putting them in that car on the very same calendar day, they’ll get the options of “Buy It Now”, for less than sticker; negotiating a price; and comparing prices across dealerships.  So far, about 90% of California’s eligible GM dealers have signed on with plans to list about 20,000 vehicles. Win or lose, the new move at least gives taxpayers a little hope that some innovation and creativity will come out of their $50 billion investment in GM. At least more than the Puma was able to. The new site is set to go live tomorrow at gm.ebay.com. [via Washington Post]
