Garmin’s Dakota GPS: Built for the Outdoorsman
By Jared NewmanLet’s face it, car GPS devices are for squares with no sense or direction. When you’re roughing it in extreme conditions, however, we won’t fault you for toting a device that keeps you headed in the right direction. Garmin’s Dakota 10 and Dakota 10 models are built for that very task. They last 20 hours on a pair of AA batteries, they’re waterproof and they support geocaching. Compared to the previous Oregon line’s 20 trails, these units can store information on 200 trails at a time. The Dakota 20 adds some extra features, like 3-axis compass that doesn’t need to be level for navigation and a MicroSD slot for storing more information. Both units will launch next quarter, with the Dakota 10 costing $299.99 and the Dakota 20 priced at $349.99. [GPS Tracklog via Engadget]
