flexible material Forget OLEDs; Scientists Make Flexible LEDs

Not content with the advancements made in flexible OLED displays, scientists have created a way to paint inorganic light-emitting diodes on transparent, flexible screens. Using a special printing device that can grab LEDs from one source and map them onto another, the LEDs are spread thin enough on the surface to appear transparent, but they convert enough electrical charge to light that they remain visible to the human eye. As such, these LEDS can be applied to a variety of surfaces, even ones that bend. The technology won’t be commercialized for at least a few years, which means in the nearer future it’ll be OLED’s time to shine. [via Ars Technica]
