Google may be behind the Android OS that runs the Motorola Backflip, but thanks to a sweeping Google clean-out by AT&T, the first Android phone on AT&T is as devoid of Google as it possibly can be. AT&T replaced the default Google search with Yahoo, which shows up on the homescreen and browser in Google’s stead.

Don’t worry, AT&T filled the Google void with a bunch of its own apps that you may or may not have any use for, including AllSport GPS, AT&T Maps, AT&T Music, AT&T Navigator and MobiTV. Surprisingly, AT&T left native Android apps unscathed, so you’ll still get most of the traditional Android experience despite the lack of its parent company.

The Motorola Backflip will hit the market on March 7 bearing a retail price of $99 with two-year contract. [Engadget via AndroidandMe]
