Facebook Working On A Two Phones Its Very Own

By

It seems that Facebook has decided that the future is not to just offer its service on every type of device imaginable–probably because it’s already there–but to offer its very own devices. According to a Bloomberg report, the social giant is working with Inq. Mobile Ltd. on two handsets to be launched next year. One will be a touchscreen + Qwerty and the other will be touchscreen only.

The phones will be Android models and, of course, will integrate Facebook. Other than that, no specs have been cited.

I’m sniffing the wind on this one, and coming up with the stench of Facebook’s own take on an underwhelming social phone like Microsoft’s infamous, ill-fated Kin phones. No matter how popular Facebook’s service, it’s not going to make up for that lack of product.

AT&T is being rumored as the most likely carrier, and the phones will first launch in Europe in the first half of next year and in the U.S. during the second half. [via Bloomberg]
