Facebook Takes The Number 3 Spot In Web Company Value

Facebook has been busy surpassing all kinds of other sites in various measures over the past few years, and it now has a new trophy to put on its shelf: it is the #3 most valuable company on the Web. According to Bloomberg, Facebook is worth some $41 billion, slipping it right by eBay at around $39.3 billion.
The only Web real estate in front of Facebook is Amazon at $74.4 billion and the all but untouchable Goggle at $192.9 billion. Facebook’s valuation comes from trading numbers on SecondMarket, a stock exchange for private companies. It has reportedly tripled in the past year alone.
Facebook has about 500 million users, a very attractive base for advertisers. $1.4 billion in sales are expected this year, up from around $800 million last year. [via BusinessWeek]
