PlayStation Move Details On PlayStation Move, Sonys Motion Based Controller

Originally announced back in E3 last summer, there hasn’t been too much new information on Sony’s motion-based controller lately. That all changed last night, when the company announced hoards of new details at the 2010 Games Developer Conference.

The new controller will get the simple-but-effective moniker PlayStation Move. The scheduled launch is for fall of this year. The controller will be available on its own, in a package with the PlayStation Eye camera and a game, or in a full console package. The Eye/Move/game package is anticipated to cost under $100. So far there’s no word of a pair of Moves package, so you may have to buy each one separately.

Sony also announced a wireless accessory sub-controller that provides a Nunchuck-esque, thumbstick remote for “intuitive navigation of in-game characters and objects”. That accessory will also launch in fall.

Games displayed included a street fighting game, a package of mini sports games and a sword fighting game. Sony stressed the precise gaming offered by the Move. Sony announced that 36 developers and publishers have agreed to work on the new platform, with 20 games slated to hit the market in fiscal year 2010.

I love this product. My only complaint about my new iPad is that my roommate constantly wants to borrow it! And it seems like every time he returns it to me, the screen is all sticky
