Dell Streak Dell Readies Android Tablet For CES

We may as well just dub 2010 as “Year of the Tablet”, which should be a nice transition from 2009’s “Year of the Tablet Rumor”. Joining the unrelenting rumors about the Apple tablet and Microsoft Courier, Dell is apparently busy preparing a tablet that will reportedly be displayed at CES 2010. Though details remain scant, the new tablet will be Android-based and will include a 5-inch touchscreen–sounds a lot like the Streak (pictured upstairs). It’s expected in the U.K. sometime next year.

Pocket Lint quotes Dell as being slightly more candid than expected: ““Dell continually develops and tests new products that extend the mobile experience. We have not made any product announcements and do not comment on speculation, rumour, or unannounced product.”

With all the hype around tablets, I’ve got to ask: Is anyone going to actually buy these things? Sure they look sexy, and make for an interesting daily news bit, but do we really need one more device to browse the Internet and read on? [via Pocket Lint]
