Dell Launches Its First Smartphone in U.S.
By Chris Weiss
Dell has officially entered the U.S. smartphone market with its $100 Aero handset. The Android-based phone is carried by AT&T and will run $99.99 with two-year contract or $299.99 without contract.
The Aero is a mid-level Android handset that Dell touts as one of the “lightest Android smartphones.” It weighs under four ounces. Unfortunately, it’s bogged down with a rather dusty Android 1.5. It does run Flash Lite, though.
The phone features a 3.5-inch capacitive multitouch screen, 624 MHz processor, 5-MP camera with 8 x zoom and 2 gigs of onboard storage. Other specs include a microSD slot (up to 32 GB), 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and GPS.
If you’re looking for a slim, lightweight Android handset without the bells and whistles, you can find order information at Dell’s website. [via PC Mag]
