Following up on its expensive, ultra-thin Adamo laptop line, Dell continues to make a play for the luxury set with the Latitude Z laptop. For the $2,000 price tag, you could point to the option of up to two 256 GB solid state drives, the Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 16-inch HD display, but it’s likely the extra perks that will vie for your coin. A 2-megapixel camera has face recognition and acts as a business card scanner, storing information to Microsoft Outlook when you hold up the card. There’s also a multi-touch screen, a fingerprint reader and an “Instant-On” mode that lets you access e-mail and the Web while the computer boots up. For even more cash, you can buy an inductive charging pad — no cords needed — and a wireless docking station, letting you move around with the laptop while peripherals are plugged into the dock. It’s a business-centric machine, so hope your regional head hands down a big bonus this year. [via Wired]
