Dell Acquires Perot Systems for Move Into IT Services
Sep 21, 2009 - By Jared Newman
Ross Perot is probably a name you haven’t heard in a while, but the company he founded, Perot Systems, is in the news as Dell acquires it for $3.9 billion. The Fortune 1000 company, run by Peter Altabef, provides technology services, software and consulting to the healthcare, banking and manufacturing industries, along with the U.S. government. It’s a rough economy for hardware, so analysts seem to be eying the diversification favorably. Gartner John Enck told CNN Money that the acquisition will give Dell’s rivals “pause to reflect.” [via CNN Money]
