Cut Your Wires: Apple Releases iOS 4.2
By Chris Weiss
Apple has released its latest iOS update–4.2–bringing some new key features to iPhones, iPads and iPod touches. The new OS makes you more mobile than ever, cutting out wires and letting you do things like print documents and stream content without a single connection.
AirPrint lets you wirelessly print from your iPad or other iOS 4.2-equipped device. Of course, you’ll need a compatible printer to do so, which is currently limited to a rather small list of HP ePrint printers. Similarly, AirPlay lets you wirelessly stream photos, music and video content from your iOS 4.2 device to your Apple TV or AirPort Express.
IPad owners will also get some features (multitasking, app folders, etc.) that iPhone and iPod touch users got with the move to iOS 4.0.
iOS 4.2 will be available for the iPad; iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4; and iPod Touch 2G, 3G, and 4G. [via CNET and MSNBC]
