Things in the China/Google saga are getting a bit more interesting. Google confirmed today that China Unicom delayed the introduction of two Android cell phones to the Chinese market. Google didn’t specify which phones were delayed, but it’s speculated that they are from Motorola and Samsung. The Nexus One was not one of the phones.

Google didn’t elaborate on the reason behind the delay, but it’s quite possible that the tension between the company and Chinese government may have something to do with it. Google is currently in discussions with the government about the censoring of search results, which Google denounced last week after revealing a large-scale corporate cyberattack thought to have originated in China. U.S. security companies have since confirmed that the attack was initiated by the Chinese.

It would appear that the fallout from the situation could be wider reaching than Google anticipated, affecting its mobile business as well as Internet search. [via InformationWeek]
