1984 movie big brother Big Brother Is...Improving Your Cellphone Service?

We’re not generally fans of your cell phone handing out tidbits like your GPS location like they’re candy, because it offers the potential to be abused and quite frankly, most people who want that information don’t need it. Big corporations shouldn’t be able to track your movement any more than the government should.

Unless it means that YouTube video on my phone will stream more smoothly. Oooooh, kitties!

get out of jail free iPad 2 Not Jailbroken...Yet.

It’s an old iPhone tradition: Apple puts out a new release of its iOS operating system, with improved security measures, and then the hackers are off to the races, looking for a security exploit to get the iPhone off AT&T and onto a network that doesn’t stink, like T-Mob…oh. Right.

For years, Apple’s thorn has been the Pwnage tool, which lets pretty much anybody get their iPhone onto the network they want with a relative minimum of fuss. Despite AT&T screaming about it, Apple hasn’t done much, for Apple. It’s almost like they’re encouraging it! Nah…

Anyway, the latest go-round features freedom for everybody, with one notable exception: the iPad 2.

gevey 1 1 1 Can The Gevey Really Unlock Your iPhone?

It’s one of the eternal frustrations of the iPhone: it’s a great device…trapped on a terrible network. Much better to just take it to a carrier who cares, but, of course, the iPhone is locked to AT&T’s network. What to do?

Most people have been jailbreaking their iPhone using software exploits, but that’s risky; it can crash the phone, corrupt key elements of the software, and naturally, it voids your warranty. Besides, they haven’t cracked the new iOS yet. While you’re waiting, Gevey has come up with a way to do it using your SIM card that…well…it’s certainly different.

The EVO 4G has been a huge success, and Android in general has been Sprint’s buddy ever since it came out, offering real competition to the iPhone.

And now Sprint’s taking it one step further: integrating with Google Voice.

deathstar congress Deutsch Telekom Shafts Us All, Sells T Mobile to AT&T

Let’s see here, AT&T’s network is famously terrible, Sprint until recently was floundering trying to redefine itself, and Verizon thinks your civil rights and privacy are for sale. That leaves T-Mobile as the least evil and incompetent cell phone provider. And unless the government intervenes, that’s by the boards because AT&T is buying T-Mobile America. In related news, this officially confirms the existence of an angry, vengeful God.
