Burglar Checks Facebook on Victim’s Computer, Forgets to Log Out
By Jared Newman
Facebook’s a great diversion during work, but if your job involves break-ins and theft, you should probably hold off until you’re back at the safe house. If only Jonathan G. Parker, 19, of Fort Loudoun, Pa., had realized this, he might not have been arrested. In a classic stupid criminal story, Parker allegedly logged onto Facebook while burglarizing a home in Martinsburg, Penn., but forgot to log out before leaving. When the victim returned, she noticed Parker’s open Facebook account on her computer, and then discovered that two diamond rings were missing from the same room. Earlier, Parker had allegedly asked a friend to join in the burglary, but the friend wisely declined. Parker now faces one to 10 years in prison, when he could have just stolen the computer as well and called it a day. [via The Journal]
