Boxee Gets Qwerty Remote
By Chris WeissA month ago, Boxee announced its emergence into the hardware market with its odd-shaped set-top box manufactured in conjunction with D-Link. The company saved one of the most interesting details of the box for CES, and yesterday it announced that the box will include a remote control with Qwerty keyboard, streamlining the user interface.
The smart, dual-side remote features standard remote functions like “menu” and “play/pause” on its face. Flip it over and get instant access to a keyboard without having to suffer through one of those tedious onscreen keyboards. Boxee did not mention if the remote will be available on its own for those that use their own homebrew equipment.
The Boxee Box is Boxee’s answer to a simple, plug-and-play solution for media streaming. It supports a wide range of file types including DivX, MPEG-4, Xvid, VOB, 10.1, VC-1 and H.264. The new box will cost under $200, according to Boxee’s press release (so probably $199,99). [via Boxee Blog and SlashGear]
